Note that an individual applying for student membership in the NKBA must be enrolled at a college, university, or technical institute that has been accredited by an institutional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or a provincial ministry of education in Canada. The student must be taking courses for credit toward a certificate or degree program related to the design and build or allied industries. NKBA student membership is limited to a period of eight (8) years.

Students studying in the design and building fields are eligible for free memberships and renewals in 2019 courtesy of Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove and Moen. The student does not have to be attending an NKBA supported or accredited school to participate in this amazing opportunity.

Clarellen Adams Scholarship
Clarellen Adams and her husband Henry founded the San Francisco Design Center. Clarellen was a champion of the interior design community. She was dedicated to helping student designers and instrumental in the annual Student Career Forum. After this event ended, the NKBA Northern California Chapter picked up the torch with the annual Student Design Symposium (SDS). This scholarship is awarded in honor of Clarellen Adams and her legacy to the profession and the students. Past winners:

Ron Hernlund Scholarship
NKBA Accredited/Supported Colleges
Over 39 colleges/universities participate in NKBA’s Accredited/Supported College Program. The Program was established to offer quality training at accredited institutions to prospective kitchen/bath design professionals.
There is now one college in the Northern California region that offers the accredited program, Cañada College in Redwood City. Chabot College offers a supported program, which means it is working towards obtaining full accreditation. For information about these programs, go to:
