Ron Hernlund

NKBA Northern California awarded this scholarship annually from 2002 until 2016 in memorial to Ron Hernlund, a visionary in our industry.

Ron Hernlund, President of McPhails Appliance (which became Standards of Excellence and is now Monark Premium Appliance Co.), learned the business from the bottom up, having started as a truck driver. He set a new standard for the industry with the opening of state-of-the-art “Super Showrooms”. Ron’s vision for business and the industry is a great legacy complemented by his reputation for integrity, caring, and selflessness in all aspects of his business dealings. He was able to see the best in people and inspired them to rise far above their own expectations. To that end, this scholarship was to continue Ron’s legacy by helping others to achieve to the best of their ability in this industry.
